For some products it is desired to know their resistance to weather effects such as UV light and rainfall. With our Q-sun weathering equipment we can consistently simulate these parameters in the lab for longer periods of time. This gives a realistic indication of the longevity of a material when exposed to the elements.

Our equipment can fit a variety of specimens such as mechanical test samples, textiles, liquids etc. Cycles of UV light (replicating sunlight spectrum) and water sprays can be programmed to simulate the application. Following an industry standard like ISO 4892 or ASTM D2565 is also possible.

After exposure, the specimens can be further analyzed using our in-house equipment. Tensile/flexural/impact tests, color measurements, DMA or microscopy are for example often combined with the weathering test.
